Psychology Curriculum Overview
Why should I study Psychology?
Psychology is a study of the mind, and as such you will gain a wealth of knowledge about why people behave the way they do, how they process and use information, how they form and maintain attachments, and the variety of treatments available to those with mental health conditions. As well as developing your knowledge of the subject, Psychology enables you to develop as an individual helping you to communicate better, and maintain good interpersonal skills. It enables you to become a deeper thinker to challenge and research, these transferable skills broaden your career prospects and enables you to be successful in your next steps.
What will I learn during my two year course?
During the course you will cover Social influence, Memory, Attachment, Psychopathology, Approaches, Biopsychology, Issues and Debates, as well as 3 optional topics such as Schizophrenia and Forensic Psychology. You will also develop transferable skills such as research and presentation skills.
What is the entry requirement?
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths and English.
