A groundbreaking PreLoved Prom dress scheme is booming after COVID-19
The scheme at The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge, Somerset has seen hundreds of dresses donated from across Britain up to the value of £500.
The dresses and suits can now be used by students across the area totally for free.
The scheme began two years ago and is proving so popular and successful that students from schools across Weston-super-Mare and beyond are using it.
Other schools and academies are looking to set up the same scheme because of its success.
Sixth form student Jena said: “PreLoved Prom for me was like the Fairy Godmother to my Cinderella tale. I really struggled to find a dress. Then I came to the shop and found the perfect dress for me. I walked in to the room and it was like in the movies - just perfect. I’m so grateful for Prelove Prom.”
Organiser Suzanne Lawrence said: “The scheme is proving extremely popular and we are seeing a boom in supply and demand. There is no doubt that this would work in schools across the country. The demand is there after COVID-19 and the scheme works brilliantly.”
The King Alfred School Academy (TKASA) has had a tremendous few years and is soaring in exam results, curriculum provision, pastoral support and with its high-performing school-based sixth form.
TKASA is part of The Priory Learning Trust.
