Lewis Priest, a sixth form student at The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge, will start the apprenticeship in September.
He is the latest student to benefit from the encouraging, high aspiration and nurturing culture of The Priory Learning Trust school-based sixth form.
Head of sixth form Jonathan Gaskell said: “We are delighted that after such a gruelling and rigorous application process Lewis has been offered such a prestigious apprenticeship by the Ministry of Defence.
“They obviously recognise the high aspirations and talent that the The Priory Learning Trust sixth form nurtures.”
Lewis was Student Union President for the sixth form, representing the student body and a terrific role model for all the younger students.
He also helped to organise our Rag Week that raised over £5,000 for our Trust Charity ICM this year.
The fast-growing sixth form is part of The Priory Learning Trust and takes students from Highbridge, Burnham, and Weston-super-Mare and even Italy, Belgium and Germany.
It has record numbers students starting in September and some of the south west‘s best performance statistics.
