Students break records in archery competition
Darragh and Molly Joyce, who both attend The King Alfred School Academy, hit records in the Cleeve Junior Open Tournament near Bristol.
Darragh achieved a county record whereas his sister achieved a South West regional record for being the highest-scoring shooters in their bow styles for the Under-14s category.
At the tournament, Darragh scored 949 out of 970, giving him first place and was just seven points off the national record, with Molly also scoring 683, also placing first.
Father Adam said “Their next major competitions are the county championships at the end of the month, followed by the national championships during the first week of July.”
Head of PE Kate Clough said "These siblings are so dedicated and determined. Not only are they achieving great things in Archery, academically they are also achieving fantastic grades, with Molly qualifying for the Kangaroo Maths Challenge which has taken place this week. We are very proud of all they are achieving".
