Economics Curriculum Overview
Economics is offered as an A Level option at key stage 5.
If you're curious about how the world works and why people, firms and governments behave the way they do, then studying economics will satisfy your curiosity by increasing your knowledge and understanding of current affairs and the global economy.
Economics is a social science that studies the production, consumption and transfer of wealth. With unlimited wants and limited resources the study of economics will help you learn how individuals, firms and entire nations choose to manage and use the resources that they have. You will develop a wide range of skills including critical thinking and the ability to understand and analyse qualitative and quantitative data. A greater understanding of economics is an excellent foundation for a wide range of careers including accountancy, finance, insurance, marketing, research and the public sector.
